IFAS Group has been awarded the traffic control contract for the Monash Medical Centre Tower Expansion Project in Clayton, which our team commenced mid-December 2025. We will remain there for the duration of the project, which is expected to run for the next four years.
For our traffic control division, this is an important milestone. It represents the kind of long-term infrastructure work that reflects the direction IFAS Group is moving in, and it places our team within one of Victoria’s most significant healthcare precincts as it enters its next stage of development.
Just as our security operations have steadily built a reputation across major venues and events, our traffic control services are continuing to grow in capability and scope. Projects like this are part of that progression.

ISupporting a Major Healthcare Expansion
The Monash Medical Centre Tower Expansion is a $535 million investment that will deliver a new seven storey tower above the recently expanded emergency department at the Clayton campus.
Monash Medical Centre is already one of the largest and busiest hospitals in Victoria. The new tower will add substantial capacity to the site, including a new operating theatre complex, an intensive care unit, expanded maternity services with additional birthing suites, and a new central sterile services department.
The project is designed to strengthen healthcare services for Melbourne’s southeast, one of the state’s fastest growing regions.
Construction of this scale within an operating hospital environment brings its own challenges, particularly when the facility must continue functioning without interruption throughout the build.

Traffic Control in a Live Hospital Environment
Unlike many construction sites, the Monash Medical Centre campus never stops.
Ambulances arrive at all hours. Patients and families move constantly through entrances and drop off zones. Staff, contractors, and service vehicles all share the same spaces. As construction activity increases, so too does the complexity of managing vehicle movement safely and efficiently.
Early works, which began in 2025, have already introduced changes to access points, adjustments to drop off areas and increased heavy vehicle movement around the site. As the project progresses toward its main construction phase, these demands will continue to evolve.
Our team’s role is to ensure that construction logistics and hospital operations can exist side by side without conflict.

Working Alongside Monash Health
From the outset, the focus has been on working closely with Monash Health and the wider project team to support the site’s daily operations while enabling the build to progress.
Traffic control in an environment like this requires more than simply directing vehicles. It involves coordination, awareness, and an understanding of how the hospital functions as a whole.
Emergency access must remain uninterrupted. Public areas must remain safe and accessible. Traffic must move efficiently without creating unnecessary congestion or confusion.
It is a constant balancing act, and one that relies on experienced personnel and clear communication across the site.
Looking Ahead
Main construction is expected to ramp up in 2026, with the project scheduled for completion in 2029. As the build progresses, the scale of activity across the campus will increase significantly.
For IFAS Group, the opportunity to support Monash Health through this period is something we take seriously.
We look forward to proving ourselves over the life of the project and continuing to build a strong working relationship with Monash Health as this important expansion takes shape.
