When Spiegel Haus opened in late 2025, it brought something genuinely different to Melbourne’s cultural landscape.
The vision of filmmaker and entrepreneur Christopher Mitchell, Spiegel Haus was created to fill the gap between intimate theatres and large-scale entertainment venues. Perched atop Golden Square Car Park in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, the precinct transformed an unlikely rooftop into a vibrant destination for theatre, live music, hospitality, and community events. With its striking mirrored Spiegeltent, rooftop bar and open activation spaces, Spiegel Haus has quickly established itself as one of Melbourne’s most exciting new venues, providing a home for bold performances, creative expression, and meaningful community gatherings.
From the very beginning, IFAS Group has been proud to play a small part in that journey. Our team has worked alongside Spiegel Haus since its inception, providing security and event support across a diverse range of productions and events. Watching the venue grow into a thriving part of Melbourne’s cultural scene has been incredibly rewarding, and we are grateful for the trust placed in our team.
That partnership continued during this year’s NAIDOC Week celebrations, when Spiegel Haus hosted Gunuwarra: Deep Winter Rooftop Gathering, a free community event that welcomed more than 700 attendees for an evening celebrating First Nations culture, music, art and storytelling while raising funds for the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA).
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to come together in recognition, learning and celebration. It is a time to honour the strength, resilience and enduring contributions of First Nations peoples while reflecting on our shared history and our collective future.
We were pleased to offer our services at a significantly reduced rate and make a meaningful donation to VACCA. Together with the generosity of attendees, sponsors and event partners, the evening raised more than $10,000 to support VACCA’s work with Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
Supporting initiatives like this reflects the values we continue to build through our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. We recognise that meaningful reconciliation is built through respectful relationships, genuine partnerships, and practical action. Being involved in events that celebrate First Nations culture and create opportunities for community connection is one way we can contribute to that ongoing journey.
Community events such as this demonstrate the power of bringing people together through culture, storytelling, and shared experiences. They create opportunities to celebrate, educate and strengthen connections across our community, and we are proud to have played a small role in helping make the event possible.
